This project was sponsored by Lowe’s
The amount of STUFF a family of eight produces is out of this world. I will admit in the most first-world way (please, I beg of you, don’t take this the wrong way) that our home, for the amount of bedrooms and people that would fill those bedrooms, our garage is undersized. To fit our vehicles that transport aforementioned eight people is a tight squeeze as is. Then you add in a golf cart, bikes for each person, strollers, other outside toys, lawn care tools, you name it….. it got overwhelming pretty quickly. And we (Dustin) are fairly good about keeping up and paring down our things so we don’t have a lot of “extra.”
So we did an overhaul which was a true two day project. Honestly for most people it would be even less time if you don’t have six little blessings running around underfoot. And included in that time is the cleaning and purging part. This wall is 10 x 20 for context. Lowe’s was kind enough to sponsor us trying to figure out how to make our garage a place of function and let me tell you- we are blown away at the result.
My point is, it is a very uncomplicated project with huge impact for moderate effort and little investment!
Wins all around.
In the couple weeks since it has been completed, it really has stayed neat! I have made it super easy for you to recreate this project for yourself with links at the bottom of this post. My favorite option is to add to cart and schedule a pickup and make the whole process so easy! So enough words before I show you the good stuff- the picture evidence.
Before
We even have the wood for the pantry that we started in December but then I put Dustin onto many other house projects instead…
During
We had to clear it all out and clean. A good refresh and deep clean always feels great! Especially when you know it is going to be good when it is all done. Spot the bike pulley system that has been in use for a year and still super functional!
OK here is what is the actual biggest deal and the centerpoint of this project- the Gladiator garage organizational system. I would say it is every parent’s dream except I know for a fact that every human, not just the child-bearing ones will appreciate this (parents just tend to have more of the things because of the amount of things each human accumulates). The Gladiator system is so slick- it is a fully customizable slat wall panel system that makes your walls useful from top to bottom in exactly the way you need it. Think of the… ahem…. rhymes with schmelfa system which is absolutely remarkable for closets…. that is the Gladiator system for your garage!
While Dustin was working on installing the Gladiator panels on the wall, I got busy refreshing the stairs. They had non slip pads that were worn off and paint was seriously chipped, so I got to work. I removed the remaining pads and did a light sand to get rid of any chunks before I painted. I used a new to me product by Valspar specifically made for porch, floors, and patios which has a slight grit to it. This eliminates the need to pour sand in the paint or install those non slip pads that inevitable wear off. I am very pleased with the result!
Also spot the change in lighting. The ones Dustin installed previously didn’t cast great light so he purchased and installed these.
After
Still a lot of stuff but so organized and functional!
Here’s all the things we used.
Multipurpose hook (used for five gallon buckets!)
Multipurpose S hook (used for giant broom)
Solid 30″ shelf (we used above our hose reel)
So tell me, what are you up to this weekend? A garage overhaul perhaps… share with me if you do!
